Tracing numbers 1–10, 1–20 and beyond

Enter any start and end number from 0 to 100. The default of 0–10 suits preschool; 1–20 is common in kindergarten; larger ranges help children practise two-digit numbers. Each number gets its own row with a model, tracing copies and a blank space, and extra rows flow onto more pages automatically.

Turn on number words to add the word after the digits — for example 7 and “seven” — so the same worksheet supports counting, number recognition and early spelling.

Forming numbers the right way

Numbers such as 2, 3, 5 and 8 are often written backwards or started from the wrong place. The start-dot style marks where each number begins and the direction of the first stroke. The number 5 and 4, which are written in two strokes, show stroke numbers at larger sizes.

Use the worksheet with counting activities

Print a page per number and add a “Draw a picture” box for children to draw that many objects, or use the landscape layout for a wider row of tracing. Grayscale printing keeps a class set affordable.

Printing tips

  • Print at Actual size or 100% so the guide lines keep their real height.
  • Use Grayscale or B&W mode to save colour ink; tracing lines stay visible on home printers.
  • Heavier paper (100–120 g/m²) or a sheet protector makes pages reusable with dry-erase markers.
  • For a class set, download the PDF once and print the number of copies you need.

Which number ranges can I use?

Any range from 0 to 100. Enter a start and an end number; the worksheet adds pages as needed.

Can I add number words?

Yes. Turn on Number words to trace the word after the digits, for example “12 twelve”. Words are available for every number from 0 to 100.

What trace styles are available for numbers?

Start-dot, dotted, dashed, light grey, hollow outline and solid. Start-dot is recommended for young children because it shows where to begin.

Can I make a tracing numbers 1–10 worksheet on one page?

Yes. Set the range to 1–10 and choose a smaller letter size or fixed rows until the page count shows one page.
