Last updated: July 2026. LyfPDF (“we”, “us”) operates lyfpdf.com. Protecting your documents is not a feature of this service — it is its architecture. This policy explains in plain language what happens (and what cannot happen) with your data.
What happens to my files?
Nothing leaves your device. Every PDF operation on LyfPDF — editing, merging, splitting, compressing, rotating, organizing, numbering, watermarking, converting, extracting text, OCR and signing — runs entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript and your device's own processor. We do not upload, receive, store, copy, scan or transmit your files, and we operate no server-side document processing at all. When you close or refresh the tab, the file is gone from memory.
What this means concretely
- A document you merge, sign or compress here has the same privacy as one you never opened online.
- There is no “retention period” for your files because we never possess them — retention is zero by construction.
- A breach of our web server could leak our website code, but not your documents, because they were never there.
- We cannot hand your documents to anyone — advertisers, authorities or attackers — because we do not have them.
Do I need an account? What identity data do you hold?
No account, login, email or phone number is ever required or requested, so we hold no user profiles at all. We do not read, index or track the contents or names of your files.
What data is handled, then?
- Local preferences (on your device): your chosen language and your cookie choice are stored in your browser's local storage. They never reach us; you can clear them any time via your browser settings or the “Cookies” link in our footer.
- Open-source libraries from CDNs: tool pages load code (PDF rendering, OCR) from content delivery networks such as cdnjs and jsDelivr. These deliver code only; your files are not sent to them. The OCR tool additionally downloads a language data pack (a few MB, cached) the first time you use a language.
- Basic analytics (if enabled): we may measure page-level statistics (e.g. which tools are visited) to improve the site. This never includes file data or content.

How do ads and cookies work here?
LyfPDF is kept free by ads served via Google AdSense — and ads load only after you click “Accept” on our cookie banner. If you decline, no advertising scripts or cookies are loaded at all, and every tool still works exactly the same. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads; you can learn about and control this at Google's ads policies, and change your choice any time via the “Cookies” link in our footer.

What are my rights (GDPR / CCPA and similar laws)?
- Access / deletion of documents: not applicable in the best possible way — we never collect your documents, so there is nothing to access or delete on our side.
- Consent withdrawal: use the “Cookies” link in the footer to re-open the banner and Decline; ad cookies from Google can be cleared in your browser.
- Ad personalization: manage it in Google's My Ad Center.
- Questions or complaints: email us via the contact page; you may also contact your local data-protection authority.
Children
LyfPDF is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We knowingly collect no data from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site works ever changes materially (it would take a redesign of the whole architecture), this page will be updated and the “last updated” date changed. The core promise — files processed on your device, never uploaded — is the product itself.
