Cookie Policy
Two local preferences by default; analytics and ad cookies only with your consent — and one click to change your mind.
What does LyfPDF store in my browser?
By default, just two tiny local preferences and nothing else: your language choice and your cookie decision. Personalised advertising (Google AdSense) is switched on only if you click Accept on the banner. If you Decline, Google is asked to show only non-personalised ads, analytics stays off, and every tool works identically. Your documents are never involved either way: they are processed in memory and never uploaded.
The complete list
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| lyf_consent | Local storage (essential) | Remembers Accept/Decline so the banner doesn't repeat | Until you clear it |
| lyf_lang | Local storage (essential) | Remembers your interface language | Until you clear it |
| Google Analytics | Third-party (optional) | Page-level visit statistics with IP anonymisation, used to see which tools and guides are useful | Set by Google — only after you click Accept |
| Google advertising cookies | Third-party (optional) | Serving, frequency-capping and measuring ads | Set by Google — see their policy |
How do I change my choice?
- Scroll to the footer of any page and click Cookies — the consent banner re-opens.
- Pick Accept or Decline; your new choice applies immediately.
- To remove existing Google cookies, clear cookies for lyfpdf.com in your browser settings.

Why does LyfPDF ask for consent at all?
Some visitors come from regions where privacy law requires a clear choice before advertising or analytics cookies are set, and we think everyone deserves that choice, wherever they are. So the banner appears on your first visit, and analytics and personalised advertising stay off until you press Accept. Before you decide, Google is asked to show only non-personalised ads. The two local preferences listed above are the only items LyfPDF itself stores, and they are needed for the site to remember your answer.
What happens if I click Decline?
Google Analytics is not loaded, and Google is asked to show you only non-personalised ads, which are not based on your browsing history. Every tool, guide and download works exactly as it does for someone who accepted; nothing is slowed down, hidden or limited. We simply do not see any visit statistics from you.
What happens if I click Accept?
Two optional things start. Google Analytics begins collecting page-level statistics (for example, that the Merge PDF page was opened) with your IP address anonymised, and Google AdSense may show ads and set cookies to serve and measure them. Neither of these ever receives your documents, because the documents never leave your browser. You can reverse the choice at any moment from the footer link.
Do my PDFs or images ever touch cookies?
No. File contents are held in your browser's memory only while the tab is open. They are not written into cookies or local storage, and they are not sent to us. When you close or refresh the tab, the working copy disappears.
What about code loaded from other servers?
Some tools load open-source code (for example PDF rendering or OCR) from public content delivery networks such as cdnjs and jsDelivr. Like any web server, they can see that a browser requested a script file, but they do not receive your documents. These requests do not set LyfPDF cookies.
How do I delete cookies and stored preferences in my browser?
- Open your browser's settings and search for “cookies” or “site data”.
- Find lyfpdf.com in the list of sites and remove its data. This clears the Accept/Decline choice and the language preference, so the banner will appear again on your next visit.
- To remove Google's advertising cookies as well, clear cookies for the sites your browser lists under Google or doubleclick.net, or use the personalisation controls linked below.
Browsers also let you block third-party cookies entirely. If you do, the site keeps working; you will simply see fewer or less relevant ads if you have accepted them.
Will this policy change?
If we add or remove a cookie or a storage item, this table is updated first and the review date below changes. The policy was last reviewed on 10 October 2026. Questions about it can go to hello@lyfpdf.com.
