What is PDF metadata?
Metadata is information stored with the file, such as title, author, subject, keywords, creator application, producer and dates. It may appear in a PDF reader’s properties panel and can help identify a document even when the file name changes.
When should metadata be reviewed?
Check it before publishing, sending client documents, sharing templates or reusing a PDF created by another application. Old author names, internal project titles or software details can remain in a file even when they are not visible on the page.
What this editor does not change
- Page text, images, fonts and layout remain untouched.

Will editing metadata change the visible PDF pages?
No. The tool updates document properties and saves a new PDF without rasterizing or redrawing the pages.
Can I remove an old author name?
Yes. Clear the Author field and save the new copy.
What should I put in the keywords field?
Use a short comma-separated list that helps your own document management. Avoid adding confidential internal terms to public files.
Are metadata dates always reliable?
No. Creation and modification dates can be changed by software and should not be treated as proof of when a document was authored.
Does this remove all hidden information?
No. Metadata is only one source of hidden information. Comments, form fields, attachments and layered content require separate review.
Is the PDF uploaded?
No. Metadata is read and written locally in your browser.
