Remove Watermark from PDF
Use automatic cleanup for faint marks, manual smart cleanup for selected regions, or permanent area cover when the watermark occupies a known location.
Which watermark removal mode should I use?
Start with Auto clean for pale gray or lightly colored text across the center of a page. Use Manual smart clean when only a specific band or corner should be processed. Use Permanent area cover when the watermark sits inside a predictable rectangle and hiding that entire area is acceptable.
Scans light pixels in a diagonal band or across the whole page. Fastest for repeated low-opacity marks.
Limits the cleanup filter to boxes you draw, reducing the chance of changing unrelated page content.
Replaces selected regions in the processed page image. Reliable, but anything inside the box is hidden.
How does the advanced preview protect document quality?
The tool shows the original selection next to a processed preview before download. Increase strength gradually, keep dark-text protection enabled, and switch from whole-page scanning to the diagonal band when the document contains pale charts, signatures or background art.
What types of watermark can and cannot be removed?
Faint text and light logo marks usually respond well. A watermark baked into a photograph, placed over dense text, or using the same color and brightness as important content cannot always be separated cleanly. In those cases, manual selection or area cover is safer than stronger automatic cleanup.
Practical quality checklist
- Preview at least one page with dense text and one page with images.
- Use the lowest cleanup strength that makes the mark acceptable.
- Apply manual boxes only where the watermark actually appears.
- Keep the original PDF; processed cleanup pages are rasterized.
- Use this tool only on documents you own or are authorized to modify.

Frequently asked questions
Does automatic mode remove every watermark?
No. Automatic mode is designed for faint, low-opacity marks. Watermarks that overlap dark text, photographs or complex graphics may require manual selection, area cover or editing in the original source file.
Why does the processed page lose selectable text?
Cleanup modes render the selected page to an image, modify pixels and rebuild the PDF page. This makes the visual removal permanent, but text on that processed page is no longer selectable.
Can I remove a watermark from only one page?
Yes. Choose Current page or a page range before download. Pages outside the selected scope are copied from the original PDF without rasterization.
What strength should I start with?
Begin around 40–55 with dark-text protection enabled. Raise it in small steps only after checking the preview for lost light-gray text, chart lines or signatures.
Can I reuse the same manual area on every page?
Yes. Keep Repeat current areas on selected pages enabled when the watermark appears in the same location throughout the document.
Is the file uploaded?
No. PDF rendering, cleanup and export happen locally in your browser.
Is it legal to remove a watermark?
Only remove or alter marks when you own the document or have permission. Watermarks may communicate ownership, licensing, confidentiality or document status.
