How does advanced image-to-PDF compression work?
The tool reduces PDF size before the document is built. It can limit very large source images to a practical long-edge dimension, re-encode photographic pages at a chosen quality and place each optimized image onto a controlled PDF page. This avoids compressing the same page repeatedly after the PDF has already been created.
Maximum Quality is suitable for portfolios and detailed photographs. Balanced is a strong default for sharing and archiving. Smaller File lowers both the pixel cap and JPEG quality for email or upload limits. Lossless PNG avoids JPEG artifacts around diagrams and text, but often produces a larger PDF.

Frequently asked questions
Does the tool compress the original image files?
No. The source images remain unchanged. Optimized copies are embedded only inside the newly created PDF.
Which mode should I use for photos?
Balanced is a useful default. Choose Maximum Quality for print-sensitive photographs and Smaller File when upload size matters more than fine detail.
Why can Lossless PNG create a larger PDF?
PNG preserves pixels without JPEG loss, but photographs contain many colors and gradients that compress less efficiently in PNG.
Can I combine portrait and landscape images?
Yes. Auto orientation chooses the page orientation separately for each image.
Will the tool enlarge a small image?
No. The long-edge limit only downsizes images that exceed it. It does not add real detail to a small source.
