Why editing a PDF is different from editing Word
A PDF is designed to preserve a finished page, not to behave like a flowing document. Many editors therefore add a new annotation layer for text, drawings, highlights and signatures. When the result is flattened, those additions become part of the page appearance and display consistently in other readers.

Can a browser editor change every original word?
Not reliably. A PDF can store letters as positioned shapes or embedded glyphs rather than editable paragraphs. Annotation plus flattening is predictable for forms and visible corrections; full reflow is better handled in the source document.
What happens to links and form fields after flattening?
Flattening may turn interactive elements into page appearance. If clickability or fillable fields matter, test the downloaded file before distributing it.
Why does a signature look different after download?
Scaling, page rotation and browser rendering can affect placement. Zoom in, check the downloaded copy and remember that a visible image signature is different from certificate validation.
Preserve meaning as well as appearance
A page can look correct while text order, accessibility tags or interactive behavior changes. For official forms and accessible documents, inspect both visible output and functional behavior. When the original application is available, complex corrections are usually safer there before exporting a fresh PDF.
