Conversion is a trade-off, not a rename

Changing a filename extension does not convert a document. A real converter reads the source, rebuilds content in the target format and may have to choose between visual fidelity, editability and file size. The best target depends on what the recipient needs to do next.

Image-to-PDF workflows

Use JPG to PDF for camera photos, PNG to PDF for screenshots and line art, and HEIC to PDF for iPhone photos. Before conversion, correct orientation and crop empty borders. A4 pages are convenient for printing; image-sized pages preserve the original aspect ratio.

Convert JPG to PDF free: one photo or a batch?

Use JPG to PDF for one image per PDF page. Select photos in reading order, choose A4 for standard portrait printing or Fit to image for the source shape, then open the saved images.pdf to verify it. Adding images to a PDF does not automatically reduce their file size; for a strict upload limit, optimize the photos and check the final file size.

How to save PDF as JPG without confusing the outputs

PDF to JPG produces pdf_images.zip with numbered page images. Extract the archive before attaching a JPG to a message or slide. For a single-page picture, split out that page first. Keep the original PDF when selectable text, links or further document editing matter.

Why layout sometimes changes

PDF stores positioned page objects while Word reflows text. Columns, tables, custom fonts, formulas and overlapping objects may simplify during PDF-to-Word conversion. A scan has no real text until OCR creates it. Treat conversion as a starting copy and compare important formatting with the original.

  • Use PNG when sharp text and transparency matter; use JPG when smaller photographic files matter.
  • Do not repeatedly convert the same image through lossy JPG stages.

Which image format gives the best text quality?

PNG preserves sharp edges without JPEG artifacts, so it suits screenshots and line art. JPG is usually smaller for photographs. The correct choice depends on whether detail or transfer size matters more.

Will PDF to Word reproduce the same layout?

Simple paragraphs often transfer well, but columns, forms, tables and custom fonts can move. Treat the DOCX as an editable reconstruction, not a pixel-identical copy.

Does OCR make a scan accurate?

OCR makes pixels searchable by estimating characters. It does not guarantee correct spelling, reading order or numbers. Always review sensitive fields.

Do not convert more times than necessary

Each lossy image step can remove detail, and each document rebuild can introduce layout differences. Plan the final format first, work from the highest-quality source and perform one final conversion. If the recipient needs both fixed layout and editing, keep a PDF plus a separate editable source.
